What we do
We collect good baby and toddler things from people who have finished with them, check and sort them, then pass them on free to families who need them. Clothes, nappies, bedding, feeding equipment, toiletries and toys, for children up to their second birthday.
There is no charge and no means test. We do not ask families to prove anything to us. Somebody already working with the family tells us what they need, and we pack it.
Who we help
Families in [DEFINE THE AREA WE COVER] with a baby or child under two, or expecting one. Referrals reach us through the people already supporting them.
Some families have left home with nothing. Others had an income until the month it stopped, or were coping until a second baby arrived eighteen months after the first. We do not ask which. We ask what sizes the children are.
How we are run
Avon Valley Baby Bank is a charitable incorporated organisation. Our application to the Charity Commission is pending, so we have no registered charity number yet. Once the Commission issues one, we will put it at the foot of every page on this site.
The trustees run the charity. They are volunteers, we pay none of them, and under our constitution they are also the only voting members.

Our governing document is the Foundation model constitution for a CIO whose only voting members are its charity trustees. The Charity Commission will publish it on the register once registration completes.
Where the things come from
People in the villages and towns around us give us nearly all of it. We buy only the few items that are not safe to pass on second-hand.
If you have things to give, our donate items page lists what we can take. If you have a couple of hours a week free, we need volunteers more than we need money.
