DRAFT, NOT YET ADOPTED. This page describes a safeguarding position the trustees have not agreed. Publishing it as it stands would tell people what to expect of us without binding us to it. Adopt a written policy at a trustees’ meeting, minute it, appoint a named lead, then remove this box.
If a child is at immediate risk
Ring 999.
If you are worried about a child but it is not an emergency, ring Wiltshire Council’s Integrated Front Door on 0300 456 0108, open 8.45am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 4pm on Friday. Outside those hours ring the Out of Hours Service on 0300 456 0100. For anything less urgent, email Integratedfrontdoor@wiltshire.gov.uk. The Integrated Front Door answers concerns 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and holds the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub within it. You need no permission from us and you do not have to tell us first.
Our commitment
Everyone who comes into contact with this charity has a right to be safe. We are a small volunteer organisation handling donated goods rather than working with families direct, but we hold families’ details and our drivers reach their doorsteps, so safeguarding falls to us as well.
What we do
- We take referrals from professionals who already know the family, rather than working with families direct
- Volunteers who handle referral information or deliver to homes are [CONFIRM: DBS CHECKED AT WHICH LEVEL]
- Volunteers do not enter a family’s home
- We publish no families’ names, details or photographs
- We pass concerns to our safeguarding lead the same day, and to statutory services where they meet the threshold
Our safeguarding lead
[NAMED TRUSTEE, ROLE, CONTACT EMAIL AND PHONE]
Deputy: [NAMED TRUSTEE]
[Trustees: the Charity Commission expects a named individual here, not a generic address. Whoever you name needs to be contactable and to have had safeguarding training suited to the role.]
Raising a concern about us
If something about this charity or one of our volunteers worries you, tell our safeguarding lead. If your concern is about the lead, or you would rather not come to us, contact the Charity Commission at gov.uk/complain-about-charity, or the Integrated Front Door on the number above.
Raise it even if you are unsure. You will not be in trouble for reporting something that turns out to be nothing.
